Value for Money?

The shire have probably been planning Karridale since around 2004, although it could have started long before then. They really hit their stride in 2007 when they launched the Karridale Concept Plan on the unsuspecting residents of that sleepy hollow down south.

Maybe it needed a bit of a plan, but what was this planning activity actually worth to the shire? How many of your ratepayer dollars would you pay to ensure orderly planning in Karridale?

What did the councilors approve for the Karridale planning, did they see a need? Councillor McGregor went onto Facebook and said the actual houses might be 30 years away. How can any of us plan for the generation who will be living here in 30 years? But still they spend our dollars on years of planning and reams of documents, but there's no need to worry because the financial implications are all fully considered.

Costs and Budget implications:
Due to these strategies being developed internally there will be a significant cost saving compared to what it would cost to appoint consultants. (From the Council Minutes)

When I asked one of the planning officers  how the shire could afford so much resource being spent on Karridale I was told the whole project actually cost nothing!

"Because you'd have to pay for me anyway."

How can we argue with logic such as this?
